Outdoor Advertisement Permit Guidelines.

The Asokwa Municipal Assembly (AsMA) is vested with the authority to levy and collect outdoor advertisement fees within its jurisdiction in accordance with the provisions of Sections 140, 141, 142, 144, and 148 of the Local Government Act, 2016 (Act 936) and other relevant Bye-laws.

Under these legal provisions, the Assembly is mandated to regulate and issue permits for outdoor advertisements to advertising agencies, institutions, companies, organizations, and individuals who intend to erect or display:

  • Billboards
  • Signboards
  • Banners
  • Directional signs
  • Wall branding
  • Other outdoor advertising structures

Requirements for Obtaining an Outdoor Advertisement Permit

Applicants seeking approval for outdoor advertising structures are required to complete the following process:

  1. Submit an Application Letter
    • Address the application to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Asokwa Municipal Assembly.
  2. Attach Required Documents
    • Working drawings of the proposed structure.
    • Artistic impression/design of the billboard or advertisement.
    • Dimensions (size) and specifications of the structure.
  3. Provide a Valid Insurance Certificate
    • Submit a valid insurance cover for the proposed billboard or advertising structure.
  4. Payment of Statutory Fees
    • Pay the prescribed outdoor advertisement permit fee as determined by the Assembly.

Inspection Process

Upon receipt of the application and supporting documents:

  • Officers from the Asokwa Municipal Assembly will conduct a site inspection.
  • The inspection is carried out to ensure compliance with the Assembly’s planning regulations, safety standards, and relevant bye-laws.

Issuance of Permit

  • Where the application satisfies all the requirements and the inspection is successful, the Assembly will issue an Outdoor Advertisement Permit.
  • Only after the permit has been issued may the applicant proceed with the erection or display of the approved outdoor advertisement.
